From early
2007 to late 2009, I took art classes from artist Denise Larue Mahlke, PSA. My intention was to learn to paint with oil.
After a few lessons, I was introduced to pastels during her art
classes and was intrigued by the vibrancy of the medium.
As I learned to paint with pastels, I realized that I can express my feelings and passion toward the subject(s)
of my paintings best through pastels. It became my choice to use this medium to develop my art skills.
I delayed learning how to paint with oil until early 2011, which I have done with artist Michael Windberg.
I took more workshops with other artists such as Steve Napple, Susan Carlin, Libby Peters, Bob Rohm, Rae Andrews and Rita Kirkman.
I give credit to Denise Larue Mahlke as my most significant mentor and teacher with regards to my artistic development.
